Dhaka, Nov 14 (V7N) - Bangladesh recorded three more dengue-related deaths in the 24 hours preceding 8 a.m. Thursday, bringing the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 326 this year, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the same period, 833 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, raising the total number of hospitalizations this year to 82,606. Dhaka South City Corporation reported the highest number of new cases, with 167 admissions in a single day. One patient receiving treatment in this area died during the reporting period. Another death was reported in Dhaka North City Corporation, while one fatality occurred in the Rajshahi division.

DGHS data shows that Dhaka South City Corporation has recorded the highest number of dengue deaths this year, with 156 fatalities. Other divisions and city corporations reported the following death tolls: Barishal 44, Dhaka North 52, Chattogram 25, Dhaka division 7, Khulna 11, Mymensingh 13, Rajshahi 17, and Sylhet 1.

Monthly death figures indicate a rise in dengue fatalities in recent months. September saw 76 deaths, and the number increased to 80 in October. So far in November, 29 deaths have been reported. Earlier in the year, dengue claimed 39 lives in August, 41 in July, 19 in June, 3 in May, 7 in April, 3 in February, and 10 in January. No fatalities were recorded in March.

Hospital admissions have fluctuated significantly throughout the year. January saw 1,161 dengue hospitalizations, followed by 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, 10,496 in August, 15,866 in September, and 22,520 in October.
