Washington , D.C, Nov 16, (V7N) - Karoline Leavitt, President-elect Donald Trump's 27-year-old pick for White House press secretary, is set to make history as the youngest person to hold the position. Leavitt, a staunch conservative from New Hampshire, has quickly risen through the Republican ranks since working as a student assistant for Fox News during Trump’s 2016 campaign.

Having served as an assistant press secretary during Trump’s first presidency, Leavitt has remained a prominent figure in Trump’s 2024 campaign, frequently acting as his spokeswoman at rallies and court appearances. A mother of one, she briefly stepped away from the campaign in July to give birth to her son, returning soon after to continue her role.

Trump praised Leavitt in a statement, calling her "smart, tough, and a highly effective communicator," expressing confidence in her ability to excel as press secretary. Known for her alignment with Trump’s "America First" agenda, she shares his criticism of traditional media, often labeling journalists as purveyors of "fake news."

Leavitt’s conservative beliefs took root during her university years, where she opposed identity politics and championed meritocracy. After her initial stint in the White House, she ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2022 and served as communications director for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, Trump’s nominee for UN ambassador.

As press secretary, Leavitt will face the challenging task of managing Trump’s media strategy, especially under his close scrutiny of news coverage. Reflecting on Trump’s second ascent to the presidency, she described him as more politically experienced and wise to the workings of Washington's establishment.
