Tehran, Feb 02 (V7N) — Iran's Revolutionary Guards Navy has unveiled a new underground missile facility along the country’s southern coast, state television reported Saturday, further expanding its military infrastructure just weeks after showcasing an underground naval base.
The highly fortified site, which remains undisclosed, houses hundreds of cruise missiles designed to evade electronic warfare and strike enemy destroyers and warships.
Iran’s state-run media emphasized the depth and rapid readiness of these missile systems, stating they are stored hundreds of meters underground and can be launched within minutes.
“These missiles can be armed and fired from hundreds of kilometers away, striking targets deep at sea,” the report claimed.
During a tour of the facility, Guards chief General Hossein Salami and Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri introduced a new long-range cruise missile named Ghadr-380, boasting:
A range exceeding 1,000 kilometers (620 miles)
Anti-jamming capabilities to counter advanced electronic warfare
The ability to "create hell for enemy vessels," according to Tangsiri
This latest unveiling follows Iran's January showcase of an underground naval base, reportedly designed for fast-attack boats operating in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping lane.
Iran’s ongoing military exercises, known as Eqtedar (Might), are set to continue until mid-March and have included:
Naval drills featuring an advanced reconnaissance ship
War games simulating attacks on nuclear facilities in anticipation of potential strikes by Israel or the U.S.
The reveal of this underground missile complex comes as Iran closely watches the foreign policy direction of U.S. President Donald Trump in his second term.
During his first term, Trump imposed a "maximum pressure" campaign against Tehran, withdrawing the U.S. from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposing crippling sanctions.
With tensions in the region already high, Iran's latest military expansion sends a clear message to both Washington and its regional adversaries.
