Washington, Mar 15 (V7N) – The administration of former US President Donald Trump is considering a new travel ban that would restrict entry for citizens from 43 countries, according to a report by The New York Times on Saturday.

The proposed plan includes a "red list" of 11 countries, whose citizens would be completely banned from entering the United States. These countries are:

  • Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.

In addition, there is an "orange list" comprising 10 countries, where only wealthy businessmen would be allowed entry, while immigrant and tourist visa applicants would be partially banned. These countries include:

  • Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Turkmenistan.

The draft list is currently under review by US diplomats, security officials, embassies, and intelligence agencies. However, it remains unclear whether the ban will affect:

  • Citizens who have already received US visas but have not yet traveled.
  • Current green card holders from these countries.

This potential move has sparked concerns among global diplomats and human rights groups, recalling Trump's controversial "Muslim Ban" during his presidency. Further details are expected as discussions progress within the US government.
