Lima, Mar 16 (V7N) – A Peruvian fisherman, lost at sea for 95 days, has been rescued alive in the Pacific Ocean, according to CNN, citing Peru's state news agency Andina.
Maximo Napa Castro, 61, from Marcona, Peru, set out on a two-week fishing trip on December 7. However, just 10 days into the journey, strong winds swept him away, leaving him adrift in the vast Pacific Ocean.
Despite three months of intense search efforts by his family, local fishermen, and the Peruvian maritime patrol, no trace of him was found.
On March 11, an Ecuadorian fishing boat discovered Napa Castro 680 miles off the Peruvian coast. He was found in critical condition, suffering from severe dehydration.
His daughter, Ines Napa Torres, had expressed her despair on Facebook just days before his rescue, writing:
“Every day since we lost our father has been a painful one for us. We never thought we would have to face this situation. Dad, we will never give up hope of finding you.”
Napa Castro is currently receiving medical treatment as he recovers from the ordeal. His rescue has been described as miraculous, highlighting both the dangers of deep-sea fishing and the unbreakable hope of his family.
