Gaza, Nov 18 (V7N) — At least 98 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli prisons since the beginning of the war in Gaza, according to a new report released by Physicians for Human Rights–Israel, a Tel Aviv–based human rights organization.

The group warns that the actual death toll is likely significantly higher, as many detainees remain unaccounted for. The report attributes the deaths to multiple causes, including physical abuse, medical negligence, and severe malnutrition inside detention centers.

Official data shows that during the first eight months of the war, one Palestinian prisoner died every four days. However, Israeli military and prison authorities have not released updated figures since mid-2024, prompting concerns from rights groups and international observers.

Most of the prisoners who died were classified as “security prisoners”, a designation that often refers to detainees held without formal charges under administrative detention policies.

Human rights organizations continue to call for independent investigations and full transparency regarding the condition of Palestinian detainees amid the ongoing conflict.
