Caracas, Jan 03 (V7N)- The heads of state of Colombia and Cuba have expressed concern and condemnation following a reported US military strike on Venezuela’s capital, Caracas. According to US media outlet CBS, citing White House officials, the attack was ordered by US President Donald Trump on Saturday (January 3).
The Venezuelan government has accused the United States of carrying out the attack and declared a state of emergency in the country immediately afterward.
In response, Colombian President Gustavo Petro wrote on social media: “Colombia rejects any unilateral military action. In particular, such capricious behavior by the United States could further complicate the situation and put the ordinary people of Venezuela at risk.” He added that Colombia is monitoring the situation with “deep concern” and urged all parties to avoid conflict.
Meanwhile, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel described the US attack as a “criminal” act, stating: “Cuba strongly condemns this criminal attack and demands an immediate response from the international community.”
The situation in Venezuela remains tense as international leaders call for restraint and diplomatic solutions amid fears of escalating violence.
