Dhaka, Nov 28 (V7N) – Germany has committed €180.807 million (approximately Tk 2,265 crore) in technical and financial support to Bangladesh under a newly signed development cooperation agreement.
The agreements, signed today, allocate €45.8 million for Technical Cooperation and up to €135 million for Financial Cooperation, according to a press release issued on the same day.
Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky, Secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) under the Ministry of Finance, and Achim Tröster, German Ambassador to Bangladesh, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective governments.
The cooperation will focus on key areas, including Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Urban Development, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Socially and Environmentally Sound Supply Chains, Trade and Infrastructure, Biodiversity Protection, and combating domestic violence against women and children.
Since 1972, Germany has provided financial and technical aid to Bangladesh amounting to over €3.5 billion. Over the years, this partnership has supported projects in infrastructure, health, poverty reduction, good governance, human rights, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change adaptation.
