Dhaka, Feb 26 (V7N)-If the trend of repressive, oppressive, exploitative, and suppressive cases continues as before, then the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will face the same fate, said ACC Chairman Dr Abdul Momen.

He made these remarks while speaking to journalists on Wednesday after a public hearing organized by the ACC at the Pabna Shilpakala Academy auditorium.

In response to a journalist’s question regarding the consequences of political cases during the previous Awami League government, Dr Abdul Momen said: “What happened to the repressive, oppressive, and exploitative cases that were filed? I don’t think there’s a need to explain that again. If we continue that trend, we will also face the same fate.

"The question now is whether we can work independently, but every form of independence has its limitations. We will try to work as effectively and impartially as possible within the freedom we have,” he added.

A total of 157 complaints were submitted for the public hearing, out of which the ACC accepted 57 scheduled complaints for review.

The hearing provided a platform for aggrieved individuals who had faced harassment or been deprived of services at various government offices to present their grievances.

The heads of the respective institutions responded to the complaints on the spot.
