Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has asserted that the polls for the Mymensingh and Cumilla City Corporation were conducted peacefully.

"The elections commenced peacefully, but some unfortunate incidents occurred in certain areas. Approximately 53 individuals involved in these incidents have been apprehended," stated Awal while addressing the media at the Election Building in Agargaon today, following the conclusion of voting.

During the by-polls this morning, two supporters of the horse symbol and one supporter of the bus symbol were reportedly shot and injured near a polling station in Cumilla.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m., and all three injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at Cumilla Medical College Hospital.
