Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader, asserted today that no influential country could meddle in the previous national parliament election as India stood by Bangladesh. Addressing the biennial conference of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad at Dhakeshwari National Temple, Quader emphasized that India refrained from interfering in Bangladesh's election, despite attempts by various powerful nations to influence the outcome. He commended India for respecting Bangladesh's sovereignty, stating, "India did not interfere. They (India) said, 'let Bangladesh decide Bangladesh's election." He acknowledged India's firm support amidst global pressures, noting, "Many powers in the world wanted to play an evil game here. India stood strongly by our side."

Quader highlighted the strengthened relations between Bangladesh and India under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. He mentioned the successful resolution of various issues, including border disputes, through diplomatic discussions with India. Although positive progress has been made on the Teesta water sharing agreement, Quader urged patience, emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmonious relations to address bilateral challenges.

Reflecting on Bangladesh's history, Quader emphasized the contributions of all communities, including Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians, to the country's independence struggle. He underscored the unity and collective effort of diverse religious groups in achieving independence.

The conference was inaugurated by Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Kumar Verma. Several ministers and dignitaries, including Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar, Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen, and Minister of State for Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Kujendra Lal Tripura, participated as special guests. Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad President J L Bhowmik presided over the discussion.
