President Mohammed Shahabuddin has called upon Bangladesh University of Textile (BUTEX) authorities to implement a world-class academic curriculum centered around information technology (IT).

During a courtesy meeting with a delegation from BUTEX, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Engr. Shah Alimuzzaman Belal, at the Bangabhaban, the President, who also serves as the Chancellor of universities, issued this directive. Highlighting the significance of the textile sector as a key contributor to Bangladesh's economy, President Shahabuddin emphasized the crucial role of textile engineers in modernizing and diversifying the industry. He urged business leaders, investors, and textile engineers to collaborate in enhancing the global appeal of Bangladesh's textile products.

The delegation briefed the President on the university's activities, including academic affairs. They also mentioned the historical background of BUTEX, which traces back to the land allocation by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for the construction of the Textile Institute in 1957. The institute was later established as Bangladesh Textile University in 2010 by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Seeking the President's full cooperation, the delegation expressed their commitment to the university's development. Secretaries from Bangabhaban were also present during the meeting.
