Dhaka, Oct 01 (V7N) – Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has departed New York for Dhaka after completing a nine-day official visit to the United States.
An Emirates Airlines flight carrying Dr. Yunus and his entourage left John F. Kennedy International Airport at 11 pm Tuesday (Bangladesh time, early Wednesday). He is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Thursday (Oct 2).
During his stay, Dr. Yunus delivered an address at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 26. On September 30, he also spoke at the opening session of the High-Level Conference on the Situation of Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities in Myanmar, held at the UN Headquarters.
Earlier, on September 29, he met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as well as UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and UN High Representative for the Least Developed, Landlocked and Small Island Developing States Rabab Fatima.
Dr. Yunus also attended a reception hosted by US President Donald Trump, where he extended an invitation for the US leader to visit Bangladesh.
Additionally, he held bilateral meetings with government representatives and heads of state from the Netherlands, Pakistan, Bhutan, and Kosovo.
