Dhaka, Mar 24 (V7N) – Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku has assured that there is no shortage of fuel oil in the country, attributing recent supply disruptions to temporary delivery delays and increased consumer demand.
Speaking to reporters at his office in the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 24), he said, “There is no reason to worry about oil. There is sufficient stock. Therefore, I urge people not to collect excess oil.”
The adviser explained that the current situation is largely due to buyers purchasing more fuel than necessary, which has created pressure on distribution and led to delays at the retail level.
Bangladesh has experienced fuel supply concerns in recent weeks, partly influenced by the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The Petrol Pump Owners Association had earlier warned that some filling stations might face temporary closures due to security-related concerns.
Officials said that payment complications—caused by the closure of banks and depots during the Eid holiday—have also contributed to the temporary disruption in fuel supply.
However, pump authorities remain optimistic that the situation will normalize quickly as banking operations resume, allowing smooth transactions and regular supply to continue.
