Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal emphasized the heightened threat posed by market syndicates in comparison to extortion, stating that these groups of traders wield significant influence in manipulating prices for their own profit margins. Speaking at the inauguration of the Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Security course at Police Staff College Bangladesh, the Minister highlighted the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in curbing extortion activities. He revealed ongoing efforts to tackle extortion, including a special police operation aimed at addressing this issue.

Commenting on recent fires in Dhaka, the Minister described them as "mere accidents," noting the absence of evidence indicating sabotage. Nonetheless, he underscored the importance of vigilance and carefulness in preventing such incidents in the future.
