Dhaka, Nov 12 (V7N) — The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in Dhaka and surrounding districts to maintain overall law and order and ensure public security, according to a notification issued by the BGB headquarters on Wednesday.

The statement said that 14 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the capital, where they have been patrolling since morning to prevent any untoward incidents. BGB personnel are working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and stability.

The deployment comes amid rising concerns over arson and crude bomb (cocktail) attacks on public transport in recent days.

However, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali reassured citizens that there is no reason to panic ahead of November 13, adding that security measures will be further strengthened on that day.
