DHAKA, Mar 11, (V7N) – Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed today reaffirmed that the party will honour the commitments it agreed upon in the “July National Charter”, ahead of the first session of the 13th Parliament.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of treasury bench lawmakers at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, Ahmed said discussions on public expectations and the implementation of the July martyrs’ demands will take place once parliament convenes.
The first session is set to begin tomorrow, when the President will administer the oath to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker in line with parliamentary rules. The House will then elect the JS panel chairmen, hold a condolence motion, and begin discussions.
Ahmed noted that 133 ordinances issued by the previous interim government will be placed before parliament during the session. Several parliamentary committees, including the Business Advisory Committee, will also be formed.
Later in the day, the President is scheduled to deliver his address in the maiden session, which will conclude proceedings. The Business Advisory Committee is expected to meet the following day to determine the parliamentary agenda. Ahmed added that the current session may be dissolved on March 15.
