Dhaka, Mar 23 (V7N) – In a massive crackdown on crime, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 393 individuals involved in various criminal activities during 83 raids conducted across different parts of the city over the past two days. The operation was led by the Media and Public Relations Department of DMP, and the details were revealed by Deputy Police Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

Among those arrested, 33 were identified as robbers, while 22 were active professional robbers. The police also detained 4 extortionists, 18 thieves, and 55 drug dealers. Additionally, 73 individuals with pending arrest warrants were taken into custody, along with other criminals involved in various offenses.

During the raids, the DMP recovered a significant amount of weapons and illegal items. Law enforcement officials seized 10 rounds of pistol bullets, along with various sharp weapons including a chapati, two knives, a ramda, a sword, and a cutter. They also confiscated 21 mobile phones, a laptop, and Taka 562,600 in cash. Additionally, two motorcycles and a private car were seized during the operation.

The police also made significant drug busts during the raids. They recovered 7.29 kg of marijuana, 749 yaba tablets, 20 grams of heroin, six bottles of phensidyl, seven bottles of foreign liquor, and seven cans of beer. Furthermore, 16 empty liquor bottles were also found at various crime scenes.

Following the arrests, a total of 116 cases were filed at different DMP police stations. The police have assured that legal action has been taken against all individuals involved in the crimes.

To strengthen security and maintain law and order, 1,334 patrol teams were deployed across 50 police stations in Dhaka. These teams operated in two shifts, with 680 teams patrolling at night and 654 teams patrolling during the day. In addition to the patrols, 142 police check posts were set up at key locations across the city.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety. Officials have promised that strict measures will continue against criminal activities to make Dhaka a safer city for its residents.
