"The Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety has been working with local authorities and groups in 28 cities across the world to reduce the number of road crash-related fatalities and injuries.

On Tuesday (May 7), the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) and the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) inked a collaboration agreement to guarantee road safety in Chattogram City.
This is the first agreement of its sort to guarantee safe roads in Bangladesh between two entities.

In the presence of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Krishna Pada Ray and Chattogram City Mayor and Freedom Fighter M. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, the agreement was signed on Tuesday at the CCC's Tiger Pass headquarters.

On behalf of their respective organisations, Abdul Warish, Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) of CMP, and Sheikh Mohammad Tauhidul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of CCC, signed the agreement.
Chattogram City Mayor M. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury made a statement during the ceremony, saying, "CCC and CMP are working together to build a Chattogram free of traffic jams."

In the city, there is less traffic congestion as a result of the continuing excavation work. In addition, we are collaborating on parking. Through the information sharing facilitated by this agreement, our efforts to create a secure city will move even further." Commissioner Krishna Pada Ray of the CMP stated: "Making the proper judgements is aided by accurate information.

Safer roads will result from the information sharing under this agreement, which will make traffic control more dynamic and scientific. Over time, this arrangement will support the city's infrastructure development efforts to modernise traffic management.

"To lower the number of road crash-related fatalities and injuries, the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety has been collaborating with local authorities and organisations in 28 cities across the globe.

In order to guarantee road safety, Chattogram will collaborate with CCC and CMP with funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies. Establishing a coordinated procedure between the CCC and CMP to guarantee safe roads in Chattogra is the goal of this agreement. CMP is in charge of road management, data collection on traffic accidents, and investigation.

However, CCC is in charge of building safe road infrastructure and maintaining already-existing roads.

By sharing and coordinating information, the two organisations will cooperate to improve road safety management in Chattogram.

The agreement will set up a procedure for the appropriate gathering and use of data for road planning, information sharing, and accident data storage and analysis.

With the help of this agreement, CCC and CMP will analyse accident data and work together to create yearly road safety reports in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries in the city.

Together, they will locate and label high-risk zones and roadways in need of upkeep or design modifications. In the end, this agreement will help CCC and CMP create a unified strategy to address Chattanooga's traffic safety problems.

Council members Nazrul Islam Bahadur, Abul Hasnat M. Belal, Jasim Uddin, Farhadul Alam, Chief Engineer Md. Akbar Ali, and senior officials as well as young police officers and embedded workers of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety in Chattogram were present at the signing ceremony.
