The depression over the east-central Bay and the adjacent west-central Bay has slightly shifted north-northeast and has intensified into a deep depression.
As of 6 am on Saturday, it was centered approximately 635km southwest of Chittagong port, 570km southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 605km south of Mongla port, and 565km south of Payra port.
It is expected to intensify further and move northeastwards.
Maximum sustained wind speeds near the center of the deep depression are around 50 kph, with gusts or squalls reaching up to 60 kph.
The sea will be rough near the deep depression center.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep distant cautionary signal number one hoisted.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay and deep sea are advised to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
