As Cyclone Remal approaches the coast, the coral island of St. Martin experiences an increase in wind and rain, accompanied by rising sea levels. Strong winds have been blowing since Sunday morning, accompanied by moderate rainfall. The tide has elevated the waves, heightening concerns for the island's 9,000 residents. Rainfall has also commenced in various Upazilas of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Remal begins its crossing of the coastal area, with storm surges expected to reach 8 to 12 feet above normal tides, potentially inundating low-lying coastal areas. Local authorities and the Union Parishad are actively engaging in mic communication for the safe evacuation of residents to shelters, as well as residential hotels and motels on the island.

Teknaf Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Syed Safkat Ali informed Voice7 News that gusty winds and intermittent rainfall have been observed in St. Martin since morning. Efforts are underway to relocate island residents to hotels, motels, shelters, and even hospitals. Given its location amidst the ocean, we accord special importance to the coral island and have made comprehensive preparations.
