Dhaka, Jan 01 (V7N) — In a groundbreaking move to modernize the country's judicial system, Bangladesh is set to implement e-judiciary in both the High Court and district courts. This initiative aligns with the roadmap announced by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, which includes short, medium, and long-term plans to digitize the judicial process.

A Supreme Court notification on Tuesday highlighted that starting January 5, a bench of the High Court Division will conduct fully paperless judicial proceedings. Under the supervision of the Supreme Court, an online platform has been developed to provide all necessary documents for this bench. The Chief Justice plans to expand paperless proceedings to other benches of the High Court in phases throughout 2025, eventually extending to district courts across the country.

A senior Supreme Court official stated that 2025 is being heralded as a "year of new beginnings" for Bangladesh's judiciary. This transformation aims to improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility, with the ultimate goal of delivering justice more effectively.

The Chief Justice has expressed his vision of achieving complete institutional independence for the judiciary, free from executive influence. He emphasized that these reforms are in line with the aspirations of the people expressed during the July-August Revolution of 2024.

Through the adoption of e-judiciary, Bangladesh aims to establish a modern, independent judiciary that upholds the rule of law and serves the nation as an autonomous pillar of the state.
