Dhaka, Nov 12 (V7N) — The verdict in the crimes against humanity case involving three individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, is set to be announced on Thursday (November 13).
In response, the banned Awami League has called for a ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ program on the day of the verdict.
Law enforcement agencies are on high alert to prevent any possible unrest or acts of sabotage. The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in Dhaka and surrounding districts, with 14 platoons currently positioned across the capital.
Since Wednesday morning (November 12), BGB personnel were seen stationed at several key locations, including the High Court area, Bangla Academy, and the Hotel Intercontinental intersection. Additionally, police and RAB members have been deployed in large numbers across Dhaka’s main roads to strengthen security.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali assured citizens that there is no reason to panic regarding November 13, stating that security measures will be further tightened. He also confirmed that around 100 individuals have been arrested on charges related to sabotage.
Earlier, the DMP imposed a ban on all gatherings, including meetings, rallies, processions, human chains, and sit-ins, around sensitive areas such as the Chief Justice’s residence, the Supreme Court gate, and adjacent zones until further notice.
Security has been reinforced at multiple levels around the special tribunal, where the verdict will be delivered.
