Tangail, Sep 26 (V7N) – A case has been filed against 117 individuals, including former Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak, and an additional 250 unnamed persons in connection with an attack on a peaceful student procession during the anti-discrimination student movement.

The case was lodged on Wednesday in the Tangail Senior Judicial Magistrate Court, Madhupur, by Zahid Hasan, a resident of Malauri village in Madhupur upazila. Judge Pashupati Biswas took cognizance of the case and ordered the Officer-in-Charge of Madhupur Police Station to register the complaint as an FIR.

According to the plaintiff, on the afternoon of August 4, a peaceful procession led by local coordinators of the student movement was attacked near the Anaras Chatwar at Madhupur bus stand. The attackers, reportedly following the instructions of Dr. Abdur Razzak, wielded machetes and sticks, leaving several protestors, including the plaintiff, injured.

The plaintiff's lawyer, Advocate M. A. Malek Adnan, confirmed that the case has been filed under several sections of the Penal Code, and the court has already recorded the plaintiff’s statement.

It is worth noting that several prominent local leaders, including Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu, District Awami League President Fazlur Rahman Khan Farooq, and General Secretary Joaherul Islam, have also been named in previous cases related to similar incidents in the district.

Further investigations are expected as the FIR is registered, and local authorities prepare to proceed with the case.
