Teknaf, Dec 04 (V7N) - Early Wednesday morning, members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Navy conducted a special operation near the Konapara salt fields in Teknaf following a tip-off from intelligence sources. Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, confirmed the raid.

During the operation, the joint team recovered nine rounds of live ammunition, two rounds of live cartridges, seven rounds of empty cartridges, 13 empty cases, two homemade explosives, two improvised weapons, and three homemade firearms.

No arrests were made as the suspects fled upon noticing the presence of the security forces. Lieutenant Commander Haq stated that intelligence surveillance and further operations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The seized items are currently under proper legal custody, and formal procedures for subsequent action are underway.

Lieutenant Commander Haq emphasized that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to suppress terrorist activities and enhance security along Bangladesh’s coastal areas. He added that the Coast Guard will continue to intensify such measures in the future to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.
