Teknaf, Dec 08 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a special operation in the remote hill areas of Teknaf, rescuing 10 human trafficking victims and arresting three suspected traffickers along with a locally made firearm. The operation was confirmed on Monday by Coast Guard media officer Lt. Commander (BN) Md Siam-ul-Haq.

Acting on intelligence, members of Coast Guard Station Teknaf and the Baharchhara Outpost launched the operation in the deep hilly region of Marishbunia on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. During the raid, officers discovered a hidden den where traffickers had confined 10 victims—men, women, and children—intended for illegal transport by sea.

Three suspected human traffickers were arrested at the scene. Based on their information, authorities recovered a local gun from their hideout.

Interrogation of the rescued victims revealed that organized trafficking networks had lured them with promises of better living conditions, high-paying jobs, and low-cost travel to Malaysia by sea. The victims also reported that traffickers threatened, detained, and physically abused them to extort ransom.

Lt. Commander Siam-ul-Haq stated that legal procedures are underway against the detained traffickers, and the rescued individuals and seized firearm have been handed over for further action. He affirmed that operations to prevent human trafficking in coastal regions will continue.
