Dhaka, Nov 04 (V7N)- In a significant operation, joint forces have arrested 72 individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking in the Keranirtek slum of Tongi, Gazipur. The detainees comprise 51 men and 21 women, along with a substantial cache of drugs, locally manufactured weapons, and Tk 22 lakh in cash.

Acting on intelligence, a combined team from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police, and army conducted the operation in the Station Road area of Tongi early Monday morning. The law enforcement agencies recovered various drugs, including cannabis, phensedyl, and yaba, as well as a considerable number of locally made weapons, totaling Tk 22,81,300 in cash from different shanties within the slum.

Additionally, around 1,100 liters of local and foreign alcohol were confiscated from Hotel Javan. Approximately 500 personnel from various law enforcement agencies took part in this extensive operation.
