Rajshahi, Mar 03 (V7N) - A tragic collision between a truck and an ambulance in the Rajabari area of Godagari Upazila, Rajshahi, resulted in the deaths of three individuals early Monday morning (March 4). The victims were identified as Zafar Iqbal Jewel, the 45-year-old ambulance driver from Hosniganj, Rajshahi city; Sundari Rani, a 65-year-old patient from Thakur Juban village; and Adari Rani, a 38-year-old attendant also from Thakur Juban village.
The ambulance was en route to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, transporting Sundari Rani, who had suffered a heart attack, when it collided with a truck at the Rajabari BGB checkpost on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway. According to Godagari Police Station OC Ruhul Amin, the ambulance was severely damaged in the collision, resulting in the immediate deaths of the three individuals on board.
In addition to the fatalities, three others were injured in the accident and were admitted to Ward No. 8 at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Dr. Sankar K Biswas, a hospital spokesperson, reported that the injured are in critical condition and are under observation.
The incident is under investigation by local authorities, who are working to assist the injured and determine the circumstances leading to the accident. The collision highlights concerns about road safety in the region and the need for improved measures to prevent such tragedies.
