Bhuiyanpur, Tangail, Apr 17 (V7N)– Authorities in Bhuiyanpur, Tangail, have apprehended six individuals, including the center secretary and an examinee, in connection with an alleged leak of the SSC (Dakhil) examination question paper. The arrests were made on Thursday morning during the exam at the Bhuiyanpur Fazil Madrasa center.
"Six arrested including central secretary for question paper leak in Tangail... They were arrested on Thursday (April 17) morning during the exam at the Bhuiyanpur Fazil Madrasa center," a Tangail Correspondent reported.
Among those taken into custody are Md. Abdus Chobahan, the principal and center secretary of Bhuiyanpur Fazil Madrasa, and the student who is accused of leaking the question paper. The examinee is a student of Khas Biara Dakhil Madrasa, also located in the upazila.
"Among those arrested are the principal and center secretary of Bhuiyanpur Fazil Madrasa, Md. Abdus Chobahan, and the examinee who leaked the question paper. The examinee is a student of Khas Biara Dakhil Madrasa in the upazila," the report confirmed.
The other four individuals arrested for allegedly assisting the examinee are identified as: Sumon (25), resident of Tepibari village,Mizanur (35), resident of Chabbisha village,Shah Alam (27), resident of Amula village,Raihan Ali (35), resident of Purba Bhuiyanpur, "The other accomplices of the examinee are Sumon (25)... Mizanur (35)... Shah Alam (27)... and Raihan Ali (35)..." the correspondent detailed.
Initial reports indicate that during the SSC (Dakhil) Mathematics examination, which commenced at 10:30 AM on Thursday at the Bhuiyanpur Fazil Madrasa center, a candidate in a third-floor classroom allegedly threw the question paper down to waiting relatives. These individuals then reportedly collected the paper and proceeded to a photocopy shop. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) reportedly witnessed this act. Subsequently, the center secretary was arrested along with the student and the four others for their alleged involvement in the leak and for the center secretary's alleged negligence of duty.
"It is learned that the SSC (Dakhil) Mathematics exam was going on at 10:30 am on Thursday at the Bhuiyanpur Fazil Madrasa center. During the exam, a candidate in a room on the third floor of the center threw the question paper down to his relatives. From there, the girl's relatives collected it and went to a photocopy shop. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer caught the matter red-handed. Later, the center secretary was arrested along with the student and 4 others for their involvement in the incident for neglecting their duties and throwing out the question paper," the report stated.
The room inspectors on duty, identified as Abdul Hai, Motaleb Hossain, and Zahurul Islam, were reportedly not implicated in the negligence of duty. Additionally, the Tag Officer and Upazila Palli Sanchay Bank Manager, Moniruzzaman, was also reportedly cleared of any wrongdoing.
"Meanwhile, Abdul Hai... Motaleb Hossain... and Zahurul Islam... were serving as room inspectors. They were not brought under the ambit of negligence of duty. However, Tag Officer and Upazila Palli Sanchay Bank Manager Moniruzzaman has been exempted," the correspondent noted.
AKM Rezaul Karim, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhuiyanpur Police Station, confirmed the arrests of the six individuals, including the center secretary and the examinee, and stated that a case is currently being processed against them.
"Bhuiyanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Rezaul Karim said a total of six people, including the center secretary and an examinee, have been arrested. A case is under process against them," OC Karim confirmed.
Upazila Executive Officer Mosha Popi Khatun stated that the center secretary was detained due to an alleged shortage of question papers and for neglecting his duties during the examination. Furthermore, the examinee and his four associates were detained for their alleged involvement in smuggling the question paper out of the examination room while the exam was in progress.
