Rajshahi, Nov 16 (V7N) – Four police officers have been temporarily suspended following the media broadcast of a statement by Limon Mia, 34, the prime suspect in the murder of 16-year-old Tausif Rahman, son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman. The suspensions were announced on Saturday evening.

The suspended officers include Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Shahadat, Constables Abdus Sabur, Mahfuzar Rahman, and Mithu Sardar, all of whom were stationed at Rajpara Police Station. They have been withdrawn from their posts and reassigned to the RMP Police Lines.

Additional Deputy Police Commissioner and RMP spokesperson Gaziur Rahman stated that the officers were suspended due to negligence in the performance of their duties. He added that the number of suspensions may increase as the investigation continues to determine who else may have failed in their responsibilities.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Dabtala, Rajshahi, where Tausif Rahman was fatally attacked at a rented residence. Tasmin Nahar Lusi sustained serious injuries during the attack. The assailant, Limon Mia, was also injured in the incident.

After being admitted to the hospital, Limon Mia was taken into police custody. During this time, he gave a statement in front of cameras, which later went viral on social media.

The leak of the suspect’s statement prompted the court to summon RMP Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian on Saturday, instructing him to appear in person before the court and provide an explanation by November 19. The court also approved a five-day remand for the accused, Limon Mia, for further investigation.

The police continue to investigate the incident and ensure accountability for the breach of protocol in handling a high-profile criminal case.
