Teknaf, Jan 12 (V7N) — A local man, Mohammad Hanif, lost his leg in a landmine explosion allegedly planted by the Arakan Army at the Hoaikyong border in Teknaf. The incident occurred around 11:30 am on Monday. Hanif is a resident of the Lambabil area.

According to locals, Hanif went to the Bilaisar Island area near the border in the morning when the landmine exploded, severely injuring him. He was initially taken to MSF Hospital in Kutupalong, Ukhia, before being referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, the condition of Hojaifa, a child from Teknaf critically injured by gunfire from Myanmar on Sunday, remains serious. The child, currently in the ICU, has not regained consciousness. Hospital authorities said that despite surgery performed last night, the bullet could not be removed from the child’s head.

In protest, locals formed a human chain on Monday morning in the Techibridge area of Hoaikyong, demanding security and justice following the shooting incident.
