Dhaka, Jan 27, (V7N) - On Sunday night, January 26, actress Pori Moni’s lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat Suravi, informed the media that the actress would surrender in court on Monday, January 27, in connection with a case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood. In this case, Pori Moni is accused of assault, vandalism, and intimidation. The actress is also expected to apply for bail during the hearing.

Nilanjana Rifat, Pori Moni’s lawyer, stated, “Pori Moni will appear in court on Monday morning and we will submit her bail application. We are hopeful that the court will grant her bail.”

This case stems from an incident involving Pori Moni and businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood, where allegations of physical assault and threats were made. Earlier on Sunday, January 26, the court ordered the start of the trial against Pori Moni and her costume designer Junayed Bogdadi in connection with these charges. The court also issued an arrest warrant against Pori Moni in a separate case involving attempted murder.

The case was filed by businessman Nasir Uddin on March 18, 2022. The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) conducted the investigation, and Inspector Md. Monir Hossain, who was assigned to the case, submitted a report to the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka. The report confirmed the allegations against Pori Moni and Junayed Bogdadi, stating that they had assaulted and intimidated Nasir Uddin. As a result, the court on April 18, 2022, issued summonses for both Pori Moni and Junayed Bogdadi, instructing them to appear before the court on June 25, 2022.

On June 25, Pori Moni and her costume designer Junayed Bogdadi surrendered before the court and applied for bail. After a hearing, Senior Judicial Magistrate Md. Saiful Islam granted them bail.

In addition to this case, Pori Moni faces another legal challenge. On January 26, 2023, the court issued an arrest warrant for the actress in a separate case related to an alleged attempted murder incident.

This ongoing legal battle has been widely followed, and Pori Moni’s legal team is working to resolve both cases. The actress is known for her roles in the Bangladeshi film industry and has frequently been in the news due to her legal troubles.
