Kilmer, born on December 31, 1959, in Los Angeles, was a classically trained actor who studied at the Juilliard School. Though he initially pursued a career in theater, his Hollywood breakthrough came in 1986 with his role as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky in Top Gun. He later gained widespread acclaim for portraying rock legend Jim Morrison in The Doors (1991) and taking on the role of Bruce Wayne in Batman Forever (1995).
