Dhaka, Dec 08 (V7N) – Sarjis Alam, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has stated that Bangladesh’s relationship with India should be characterized by mutual respect and cooperation, as expected of neighboring nations.

Speaking to journalists during a personal visit to the Malatinagar Staff Quarter area of Bogra town on Friday evening, Sarjis stressed that the quality of bilateral relations would largely depend on India’s approach.

He remarked, “If India believes it can continue exploiting Bangladesh as it has for the past 16 years by supporting the Awami League, the people of Bangladesh will no longer tolerate such behavior.”

Sarjis also expressed disappointment over Bogra’s lack of development, suggesting that discrimination against the district might stem from its name. "This is my first visit to Bogra, and I observed that it has been neglected over the last 16 years, with no meaningful progress,” he said.

Commenting on national unity, he noted, “The people of Bangladesh are now completely united.”

He criticized certain Indian media outlets, accusing them of promoting divisive narratives. “Some spineless media, particularly in West Bengal, are spreading communal propaganda to incite tensions,” Sarjis added.
