Dhaka, Dec 24 (V7N)—Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam has said that the critical role journalists play in today’s society, expressing hope that they will uphold their responsibility by delivering accurate facts to the public.
He highlighted the importance of objective and truthful news dissemination, urging that the facts be verified before any news is broadcast.


Addressing the Dhaka Sub-Editors Council on Tuesday, he said that in the era of information technology, preventing the spread of rumors and propaganda presents a major challenge,

He stressed that sub-editors have a vital role in combating this challenge.

The Adviser urged sub-editors to take greater responsibility in news editing, ensuring accuracy and integrity in their work.

In addition, he mentioned the government’s formation of the Media Reform Commission, aimed at strengthening the media landscape.

He encouraged sub-editors to submit specific proposals for reforms to the commission.

Adviser Nahid also assured that the government would take necessary steps to implement the wage board for media professionals.

Present at the meeting were Sub-Editor Council President Muktadir Anik, General Secretary Jawhar Iqbal Khan, and other executive committee members.
