July uprising injured are nation’s pride: Army chief

Dhaka, Mar 23 (V7N) –Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said that the Bangladesh Army will always stand by those injured in the July movement to ensure they never lose morale. They are the nation's pride.

He made these comments on Sunday, at an Iftar event organized by the army in honour of those injured in the July uprising at Sena Malancha.


The army chief said: "So far, 4,200 injured individuals have received medical treatment from the army, and this support initiative is still ongoing. The army is also working to provide financial assistance to the injured. Additionally, businesspersons and various organizations have come forward to help them."

Addressing those injured in the July movement, he said: “You are the pride of the nation. We are always with you. Do not lose morale. The army assures you of its continued support. Assistance will be provided for your rehabilitation.”

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated: "An Iftar and dinner event was held on Sunday evening, at Sena Malancha in Dhaka Cantonment in honour of the students injured in the July uprising. At the event, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman exchanged greetings with the injured students and inquired about their well-being."

The Iftar and dinner event was attended by students injured in the July uprising, senior army officials, prominent civilian figures, and directors of various government hospitals.


Additionally, at the end of the event, the Bangladesh Army presented Eid gifts to the injured individuals.

ISPR further stated that so far 4,215 individuals injured in the July uprising have received medical treatment at various Combined Military Hospitals (CMH) across the country.

Among them, 989 individuals have successfully undergone surgery. Currently, 39 individuals are undergoing treatment at CMH Dhaka Cantonment.
