DHAKA, March 24, (V7N) — Dhaka’s Metro Rail service was suspended for 27 minutes on Sunday due to a technical malfunction, causing temporary inconvenience for commuters.

A mechanical fault in one of the metro trains led to an automatic halt of other trains behind it, A K M Khairul Alam, Director (Administration) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), confirmed.

“The metro train movement was stopped from 3:40 PM to 4:07 PM, and services resumed at 4:08 PM,” Alam said.

Passengers at Karwan Bazar station reported long waits, with trains halted at other stations due to the glitch. The station's microphone system broadcast an apology, assuring passengers that authorities were working to restore service quickly.

The incident is the latest in a series of operational challenges for the metro system, which has been hailed as a landmark project for Dhaka’s urban transport.
