Brahmanbaria, Mar 26 (V7N) – Sirajum Munira Kaysan, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Sarail Upazila, has been relieved of her duties following a controversial Facebook post in which she referred to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the proclaimer of Bangladesh’s independence.
The post, made on Wednesday (March 26) morning, referred to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with the title "Bangabandhu", sparking immediate backlash from BNP leaders and activists in the region.
Later, Sirajum Munira Kaysan claimed that she did not write the post and that her Facebook account had been hacked. After regaining control of her account, she deleted the post and issued a new statement clarifying the situation.
The controversy escalated when she attended the Independence Day parade at Annada High School grounds in Sarail, where BNP leaders and activists confronted her over the post. She quickly left the scene, and within 15 minutes, the original post was removed.
Sarail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Mosharraf Hossain confirmed the development, stating:
"AC (Land) Sirajum Munira Kaysan has claimed that she did not write the post. She mentioned that her Facebook ID password was known to someone else. Following the incident, she has been withdrawn from Sarail and transferred to the office of the Chittagong Divisional Commissioner. The matter is under investigation, and necessary action will be taken based on the findings."
The incident has stirred discussions about the role of government officials in political discourse and the security of their social media accounts. An official inquiry is expected to determine the authenticity of the claim regarding the alleged hacking.
