Dhaka, Dec 01 (V7N) — BNP standing committee member and former health minister Dr. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain has been acquitted in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over allegations of acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income.

The verdict was delivered on Sunday by Judge Manjurul Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-8. Dr. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain was present in court during the announcement.

Speaking to reporters afterward, the former minister stated, “This case was filed with the intention of harassment.”

His lawyer, Borhan Uddin, noted that the state had failed to present any substantial evidence to support the allegations, leading to the acquittal.

The ACC initially filed the case in 2008, accusing Hossain of acquiring wealth outside of his known income and concealing asset information. A charge sheet was submitted in November of the same year.

This acquittal follows two recent rulings in Hossain's favour. On November 27, he and his son were cleared of charges in a coal mine corruption case, and on November 28, he was acquitted in another ACC case involving allegations of embezzlement.
