Rangamati, Feb 09, (V7N) - The leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Kaukhali Upazila, Rangamati, have stated that the general public places trust in BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to restore democracy in the country. They emphasized that the country’s democratic process was crushed by the authoritarian Awami government, which stifled freedom of speech and brought about corruption. After the government's actions were fully exposed, the authoritarian Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country to save her life in the face of a strong public movement led by students and the masses.

The people of Bangladesh no longer want to see the fascist Awami regime, which has destroyed the country's democracy, according to the leaders. In the current situation, the people trust Tarique Rahman to restore democracy in the country.

This was discussed at the extended meeting of BNP's Kaukhali Upazila branch held at the Kaukhali Upazila Parishad Auditorium on Saturday afternoon. The meeting was chaired by Kaukhali Upazila BNP President Mohammad Jahangir Hossain and conducted by General Secretary Mohammad Abdul Motaleb.
