Dhaka, Apr 09 (V7N) – Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) have reached a significant agreement regarding the prosecution of the Awami League for genocide. Both parties agreed to pursue legal action against the Awami League as a party, seeking to cancel its registration until the trial is completed and suspend its political and organizational activities.
In a meeting held on Wednesday morning (April 9) at the NCP's temporary office, the two parties discussed their plans to make the trial of the Awami League visible to the public before the upcoming elections. Additionally, they agreed to declare the Awami League a terrorist organization.
Further, Hefazat and NCP discussed the necessity of swiftly withdrawing and settling cases filed against political parties during the tenure of the ousted Awami League government.
A press release issued by the NCP after the meeting outlined the four key issues that both parties have agreed on, which are likely to impact the political landscape in the coming months.
The move has raised significant political and legal questions, with the future of the Awami League potentially being at stake as these proceedings unfold.
