Dhaka, Sep 03 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized that the credit for the July Uprising belongs solely to the people, warning that political infighting over recognition could endanger the country’s future.
He made the remarks at a seminar on the July Uprising held at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
Amir Khosru criticized certain groups, saying one has exploited the Liberation War for personal gain while another seeks to “collect sugarcane with 24 cents.” He clarified that BNP does not intend to claim credit for the movement.
He further noted that countries failing to hold timely elections after a revolution, instead spending time fulfilling selective demands, often face civil unrest. “If there is a fight over the credit for the movement, the future of the country will be uncertain. If this change cannot be sustained, the future of any political party or individual will not be good,” he said.
