Dhaka, Sep 17 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that to establish a true democratic foundation in the country, the people’s mandate must be earned through elections.

Speaking informally with journalists at his Gulshan residence on Wednesday, Amir Khasru criticized political forces reluctant to join the electoral process.

Referring to Jamaat-e-Islami’s ongoing programs, he questioned whether such initiatives were aimed at pushing the country towards becoming a failed state.

He further alleged that parties conducting these movements were showing disregard for the Consensus Commission’s ongoing discussions, which seek to build national agreement on reforms.

“The people will decide the political future of those who want to destroy stability,” Amir Khasru asserted.
