Dhaka, Oct 01 (V7N) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami is trying to confuse the public about the upcoming elections and is demanding proportional representation (PR) to create political instability. He described the party as the “shadow government” of the current administration.
Rizvi made the remarks while releasing fish fry at the lake near the shrine of former President Ziaur Rahman on Wednesday afternoon.
He criticized recent statements by the Chief Advisor in foreign media, saying that such remarks have created unnecessary uncertainty about the elections. “People do not expect uncertainty about the vote. They want prompt elections. But Islamic parties are demanding PR to divert public opinion,” he said.
The BNP leader also alleged that anti-Bangladesh forces are attempting to destabilize the country, adding, “India has never wanted the good of this country.” He further commented that the national economy is currently in a state of mourning.
