Dhaka, Oct 02 (V7N) – BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s foreign affairs advisor Humayun Kabir has said that Tarique Rahman will soon return home and will personally announce the date of his return to the countrymen.
Kabir, who accompanied Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus during the recent United Nations General Assembly session, made the remarks at a press conference at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday after returning to Dhaka.
He accused the Awami League of being a “terrorist group,” alleging that the party has once again exposed its nature by attacking political leaders abroad.
On the upcoming national elections, Kabir said the Chief Advisor is committed to holding polls on the announced date. “There is no fear regarding the vote,” he added.
However, the press conference was marred by chaos as leaders and activists of the Nationalist Citizens’ Platform (NCP) began chanting slogans during Kabir’s speech. When journalists requested them to stop, NCP activists reportedly attacked members of the press.
In protest, journalists boycotted the subsequent press conference of NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasneem Zara, condemning the misconduct of NCP activists.
