Dhaka, Oct 04 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said there is no fear of holding national elections in February, expressing optimism about the political situation in the country.
Speaking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon his return from New York on Friday (October 3), Mirza Fakhrul described the recent participation of government and political leaders in the UN General Assembly session as “a rare event in the country’s history.”
He said the visit was aimed at showcasing national unity, adding that several meetings were held outside the UN session—particularly with Bangladeshi expatriates—which he described as “very positive for Bangladesh.”
Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus left Dhaka on September 21 to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, accompanied by Mirza Fakhrul and other political party leaders. The delegation returned home at 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
