Dhaka, Oct 25 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon all political parties to participate in the upcoming national elections, urging them to put aside minor differences in order to move the country’s democratic system forward.

He made the remarks on Saturday morning (October 25) while addressing the anniversary program of the daily Nayadiganta in Dhaka.

Mirza Fakhrul said that Bangladesh can progress only through free, fair, and timely elections. “Only if elections are held at the right time will we be able to return to a genuine democratic system,” he said.

The BNP leader also alleged that during the previous government’s tenure, six million workers were falsely accused, while 20,000 were disappeared or killed.

He emphasized that all political parties should view the election process as their common destination, rather than allowing political violence and division to deepen further.

At the same event, Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam commented that Sheikh Hasina had established Baksal through a unique formula, where all media outlets used to publish her statements collectively.

Meanwhile, Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam said that the country’s newspapers have yet to fully expose the culture of fear that existed during the previous government’s rule. He stressed that it is now the responsibility of the media to bring those truths to light.
