Dhaka, Nov 02 (V7N)- BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has called on the interim government to make a specific statement regarding the changes made to the July Charter, saying that the BNP wants to build confidence in the government’s commitment to holding a fair and impartial election.

He made the remarks after paying homage at the mausoleum of late President Ziaur Rahman on Sunday (November 2) morning.

Gayeshwar said that some clauses of the July Charter have reportedly been altered, but the interim government has yet to clarify the issue publicly. He emphasized that transparency is essential to ensure political trust ahead of the upcoming national elections.

Speaking about the election process, the BNP leader said he had met with the three service chiefs and the Chief Adviser, noting that “if people go to vote, there is no chance of the election being spoiled.”

On behalf of the party, he reaffirmed that the BNP has confidence in the government’s ability to conduct free, fair, and neutral elections. Gayeshwar also alleged that certain groups are attempting to make BNP appear controversial, as the party is confident about returning to power in the coming days.
