Dhaka, Nov 28 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the countrymen to pray for the recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, whose physical condition remains critical.

Speaking to reporters after offering Jumma prayers at Naya Paltan on Friday, Mirza Fakhrul said Khaleda Zia has been hospitalized for the past two days and that doctors described her condition as “very critical” on Thursday night.

He said, “Khaleda Zia has made the biggest contribution to democracy in Bangladesh. She has endured torture, struggle, and imprisonment for the sake of the country. We ask everyone to pray for her recovery so she can return to serving the people.”

Special doa and prayers were offered across the country today after Jumma prayers seeking her quick recovery.

Khaleda Zia is currently under close observation in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. She was taken there from her Gulshan residence Firoza on Sunday night for health examinations and was later admitted on the advice of the medical board.

The BNP chairperson has long been suffering from multiple chronic health complications, including arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung, and eye-related ailments.
