Dhaka, Dec 4 (V7N) – BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s physical condition remains unchanged, prompting the party to announce nationwide prayers and supplications in mosques, temples, and other places of worship across the country tomorrow, Friday (December 5), seeking her speedy recovery.
The announcement was made by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan on Thursday.
Rizvi said that from December 7 to 13, the BNP has arranged a series of view-exchange programs as part of its initiative to outline a plan for rebuilding the country. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will participate virtually in all scheduled events.
According to the program schedule, Chhatra Dal will hold view-exchange meetings on December 7 and 8, followed by Jubo Dal on December 9, Krishak Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal on December 10, and the BNP itself from December 11 to 13.
Earlier, the interim government also called for special prayers nationwide after Friday’s Jumu’ah prayers, urging worshippers of all religions to pray for Khaleda Zia’s recovery in their respective religious institutions.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday (December 3), a team of specialist doctors from the UK and China joined Khaleda Zia’s medical team. That same evening, Interim Government Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus visited Evercare Hospital to inquire about her condition.
Khaleda Zia was taken to Evercare Hospital for a health check-up on November 23 and was later admitted on the recommendation of the medical board. Her condition deteriorated afterward, though BNP leaders say she is currently receiving proper treatment.
The former prime minister has long been suffering from multiple health complications, including arthritis, diabetes, and kidney, lung, and eye-related issues.
